Lessons from the Softball Field

So today was just a really long day. We met at 7am to get ready to leave for our double header in NY. we won both of the games which i was very glad for. I pitched the second game. we had beaten them the first game 15-0... the second game, by the end of the 3rd inning we were down 4-0....all unearned runs... as a pitcher, this was very frustrating. I was throwing the pitches i needed to and they were hitting it, yes, but not hard. We missed a lot of routine plays that we should have made... several times.... so as I got caught up in the frustration that this brought, I had to stop and think of all the balls that I'd thrown away at thirdbase when Liz was pitching. I had to think about all the times that I had struck out. I remember the batters I have walked or thrown bad pitches to that they crushed. In seeing the errors being made around me, I had to stop and consider all the errors I make ona regular basis. I became less frustrated with what the people around me were doing and focused on my task at hand and what I needed to be doing. I decided to pitch the game I knew how to and do it with a cheerful spirit knowing that God had the outcome in His hands. So I hummed along as I threw the last 3 or 4 innings. We came back and scored 14 runs from the 4th to the 7th inning and held them from scoring any more... It's amazing how things change when your focus changes. When I focused on God, things became easier for me, and I threw better ad was more confident oin the defense behind me. I need to learn to not get frustrated with the circumstances surrounding me, but that I need to rely on God to help me do my part for the team no matter if the rest of the team does theirs.... Girls, you did a great job today, thanks for comin out and playing defenders softball!! :-)
